If you've had any appointments over the past few months at Savannah City Hall then you have been privy to the use of a sub-basement entrance that has long been reserved for employees. The main entrance from Bay Street is closed as the historic building goes through its first-ever major restoration.
On Friday, the rotunda area was a flurry of activity as workers on every floor sanded away and dust flew, suspended in the air. As you walk into Council Chambers on the second floor, you transition from an active construction zone to a fully restored room.
