WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Waupaca County judge heard more arguments on Friday ahead of a July trial in a double-murder cold case and ruled in favor of a motion introduced by the defense.
The attorney for Tony Haase wants to present evidence that they say points to another person as a suspect of the crimes. During Friday’s hearing, the judge allowed that request.
The hearing began Friday morning with expert testimony from the Wisconsin Crime Lab, and from an expert in blood serum testing and forensic DNA.
Haase was arrested in 2022 and charged in the 1992 stabbing deaths of Tanna Togstad and Tim Mumbrue. He was charged, in part, based on DNA evidence.
