Bennett Secrest drove in three runs and Luke Sowers secured a couple of hits Thursday as Cedar Cliff dropped WPIAL champion Seneca Valley 12-7 in a PIAA 6A baseball quarterfinal.
At Veterans’ Field in Altoona, the Colts erupted for six runs in the top of the second, highlighted by RBI singles by Sowers, Sammy Georges (three runs) and walks to Michael Boblick and Secrest with the bases loaded.
Seneca Valley owned a 1-0 lead at the time via Ryan Piekutoski’s first inning home run.
Secrest, who worked three innings on the mound, finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Grant Enders and Sowers slapped two hits apiece for the Colts (19-6), who advanced to Monday’s semifinal round to face Bethlehem Liberty.
