(WACH) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for 18-year-old Donaven Dempsey, whose body was tragically discovered in the Congaree River on May 26, following a disappearance that lasted over two weeks.

Dempsey was a freshman at the University of South Carolina who went missing during a trip to Columbia from his hometown of Spartanburg.

A balloon release to honor his life is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, at 6:00 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a purple balloon.

The event will take place at 207 Yorkshire Drive in Spartanburg.

Dempsey’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel in Spartanburg.
