FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Two Fort Wayne women were sentenced Friday in connection with a 1-year-old girl’s 2023 death.

Chrisona Bright, 27, and 26-year-old Sharon Myers both took plea deals in the case after being charged with neglect in Bre’Asia Christine Dowdell’s death. The girl’s cause of death was complications of blunt impact injuries, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Her death was ruled a homicide.

Dowdell’s mother told police she left the girl in Bright and Myers’ care so she could play with Bright’s daughter, court records show. She called 911 when she went to pick Dowdell up from their home and found her unconscious and struggling to breathe.

The mother said she reached out to the women multiple times to get clarification on what happened, but she never heard
