SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Major cuts and reinvestments are coming to all Utah public universities and colleges after state law, HB 265, or Higher Education Strategic Reinvestment, required schools to make deep cuts.

Nearly $60 million in funding was slashed from all degree-earning institutions.

The bill requires degree-granting institutions to reallocate funding to certain programs based on enrollment, completion rates, wages, job placement and program level costs.

There are 16 public colleges and universities across the Beehive State and each one had to come up with their own plan to meet the requirements of the bill.
