WASHINGTON — Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Prince George's County man who had been mistakenly deported to El Salvador by immigration authorities, was returned to the United States on Friday to face federal criminal charges, including allegations that he participated in a conspiracy to transport people illegally from Central and South America into the United States.
In a federal indictment filed last month but only unsealed Friday, along with a detention memo filed Friday afternoon, federal prosecutors allege Abrego Garcia made more than 100 trips to transport men, women and children from Texas to Maryland and other states.
"MS-13 members, violent gang terrorist organization members throughout our country. Thousands of illegal aliens were smuggled," said Attorney General Pam Bondi.
