Sarah Arvizo's cousin, Vivian Flores, was killed in the Cornerstone Church shooting.

Three years ago this month my mom called to say that my cousins, twin sisters Vivian and Valarie, were possibly involved in a shooting. It turned out it was Vivian and her friend Eden who’d been shot, as Valarie was able to run to safety among the cars in the parking lot of Cornerstone Church, in Ames, Iowa, where they were set to attend a youth worship night. Vivian Flores and Eden Montang didn’t make it.
