NORFOLK, Va. — What was supposed to be a hometown title defense for Keyshawn Davis will now be a bittersweet return. The reigning WBO Lightweight Champion missed weight by four pounds ahead of Saturday night’s main event against Edwin De Los Santos, forcing him to vacate his title.

“I outgrew the weight,” Davis said following Friday’s weigh-in. “Been making this weight for over four years now. I tried… I was up late last night trying to make the weight.”

Despite the scale setback, the fight will still go on at Norfolk Scope around 11 p.m., as both camps work through a financial agreement to keep the bout alive. But only De Los Santos will have a chance to walk away with the belt — if he wins.
