STANTON, Neb. (KOLN) - A woman and child were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening head injuries after their vehicle crashed into a power pole Thursday afternoon.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated the single-vehicle crash at 13th and Kingwood streets around 5:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, the driver, a 44-year-old woman, and the 5-year-old child were found inside the severely damaged van. They were removed by law enforcement and emergency management due to fears that the power line would fall down.

The two were transported to the hospital by Stanton Rescue. Deputies say the driver was unrestrained and struck the windshield with her head. The child was restrained, but not properly.
