SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Inland Fisheries San Angelo District stocked the Concho River in the morning of June 6, the day before Free Fishing Day.
According to a Facebook post by the Inland Fisheries San Angelo District, the Concho River was stocked with 600 channel catfish near the Oak Street Bridge. This is part of their Neighborhood Fishin' Program, which puts channel catfish into the river every two weeks through the end of October.
Free Fishing Day is an annual day in Texas where anyone in the state on that day can fish without having to buy a license. In honor of the day, the City of San Angelo will be hosting a Youth Fishing Derby on June 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Celebration Bridge.
