COLUMBIA, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The University of Missouri is getting closer to its goal of tripling its output of life-saving cancer drugs.
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe is now asking lawmakers to give the University of Missouri $50 million for cancer research. This is an increase from the $25 million he originally asked for at the beginning of this summer’s special session.
The funding was killed during the regular session in the House because Republican leadership said the state was spending too much. Kehoe brought it back during the special session at half, but then raised it to the full amount after closed-door negotiations. The Missouri Senate approved the full funding, and now heads to the Missouri House of Representatives.
