TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. —

Route 3 was closed Friday near Tyngsborough as police responded to a fatal crash.

Massachusetts State Police said one person was killed, and three others had serious injuries.

Police asked that travelers seek alternate routes to avoid the area as they investigated the crash. Several agencies were responding to the scene, including crews from Nashua.

Both directions had been closed, but the southbound lanes were back open by 3:40 p.m. The northbound lanes were still closed just before exit 88.

The extent of injuries was not known.

This is a developing story. It will be updated as more information comes in.
