VIAN, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — As severe storms moved through eastern Oklahoma and the Arkansas River Valley on Friday morning, some areas had reports of possible tornadoes, including in Vian.

The Vian Police Department said in a social media post that an officer and investigator caught a glimpse of a tornado as it was going through the south side of town.

Vian, located in western Sequoyah County, was briefly under tornado warning on Friday as a line of storms crossed through the county.

Power outages were also reported in Sequoyah County on Friday, with more than 3,500 without power as of 3 p.m., according to PowerOutage.US.

Damage to mostly trees reported on the south side of Vian, according to photos posted by VPD.
