Brantford Police arrested a man in the downtown on Thursday, seizing what they called a “large quantity of suspected fentanyl and cocaine”, a knife and an expandable baton.

The 30-year-old was wanted on an arrest warrant when he was stopped by the police Core Engagement and Response Team as they were on foot patrol at about 1 p.m.

The man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

He was held for a bail hearing.

The downtown CERT team is made up of sworn officers and special constables focused on proactive enforcement while also addressing offences and unwanted behaviour in the core.
