A proposal to rezone residential property along Highway 29 in Moreland for commercial use is drawing pushback from residents ahead of a public hearing later this month.
The Moreland Planning and Zoning Commission will review a request to rezone 2794 Highway 29 South from R-2 (residential) to G-C (general commercial). If approved, the change would allow for a warehouse and landscaping supply business across from the Moreland Animal Hospital.
Several residents say the project is incompatible with the surrounding neighborhood’s residential character.
Tate Washington, who lives directly behind the property, said the proposed development would disrupt a quiet, family-oriented area.
