PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man who injured his head while hiking on Camelback Mountain was rescued by firefighters on Friday morning.
Rescue crews with the Phoenix Fire Department were called to Echo Canyon Trailhead on the north side of the mountain around 7:30 a.m. Once they arrived, crews made their way up the trail and found a man who had injured his head.
Rescue crews used several techniques to get the man down the difficult mountain terrain. First, they carried him hand-over-hand down an area with large boulders, then used a rope system to lower him down a steep area, and finally utilized a big wheel stretcher to get him down the remainder of the trail.
Firefighters took the man to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
