Owego Hose Team
OWEGO, N.Y. (WENY) -- Members from the Owego Hose team came together at the Tioga County Courthouse Square in Owego to install the 1000th brick sold to support the 111-year-old Baker Fireman's Fountain. When the project was first started, the goal was to sell one hundred monumental bricks to place on the walkway in front of the Tioga County Courthouse.
“Our original goal was to sell 100 brick s,” said Hose Team Treasurer John Loftus in a statement, adding, “We have long surpassed that number raising valuable funds for the fountain’s restoration and now upkeep.”
In the process, organizers say they have raised over a $250,000, which helps go towards the upkeep of the fountain, which itself was restored in 2019. The money isn't just local either, according to the hose
