ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two men from Venezuela are accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from hacked ATMs in Missouri.
On Wednesday, Berny Alberson Meza-Rojas, 22, and Anthony Brijan Sorondo, 31, were each indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit bank larceny. They have each pleaded not guilty.
The indictment accused co-conspirators of tampering with he machines so they could take control and cause them to dispense money. On March 27, Sorondo, Meza-Rojas and others took more than $11,000 from ATMs in Bloomsdale and Herculaneum. On March 29 and March 30, more than $70,000 was taken from ATMs in O’Fallon, Festus, Ste. Genevieve and Cape Girardeau.
A motion seeking to keep Meza-Rojas and Sorondo in jail until trial states they entered the United States illegally. T
