STEPHENS COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Up to 144,000 gallons of sewer overflow was discharged into a Breckenridge creek due to recent high rains.

The City of Breckenridge sent a public notification on the issue Friday, saying that the night of June 3, high rains caused a Sanitary Sewer Overflow from a manhole near the 800 block of Breckenridge Avenue, and during this event, an estimated 72,000 to 144,000 gallons of sewage was discharged into the Walker Branch Drainage, which flows into the Gunsolus Creek.

No fish kills have been reported in connection to this incident, and city officials have sanitized the area as well as everything downstream with chlorine.

A report was filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
