SCRANTON, Pa. — The state Department of Transportation on Friday urged caution for those in the Lackawanna River while they demolish a bridge in Scranton.
PennDOT said they will demolish the Green Ridge Street bridge next week. They asked canoers and boaters to keep to designated areas of the river while the project continues.
The first span of the two-span bridge was built in 1945. The second span went up in 1983.
Construction of the new bridge is expected to wrap up sometime early next year, PennDOT said.
