RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond taxpayers were meant to pay their personal property tax bills on Thursday -- however, the city's online payment system wasn't functioning as it should. Here's what you can do if you were impacted.
On Thursday, June 5, multiple types of personal property tax bills were due in the city of Richmond. Taxpayers are able to pay their bills both in person at City Hall and online via the RVAPay system.
However, 8News was made aware that many were struggling to use RVAPay to pay these bills on Thursday. This created concerns that they would be charged late fees.
A city spokesperson told 8News that RVAPay has been experiencing "a slow response time in transactions and intermittent system unavailability." The city is reportedly investigating the cause of these issu
