NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The Navajo Nation has declared a state of emergency over the drought. Under the order, all government departments will coordinate and implement mitigation plans to ease the persistent dry conditions, alongside state and federal partners. Chapters are allowed to use emergency funds to haul and store water.

The order comes after New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a drought emergency, convening a task force to deal with the problem.
