HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville native Craig Kimbrel is officially back with the Atlanta Braves, the team where he first rose to stardom.

Atlanta selected Kimbrel's contract on Friday, the club announced.

Kimbrel originally pitched for the Braves from 2010 to 2014, amassing 186 saves with an impressive 1.43 ERA. Over that span, the Lee High School alum was named National League Rookie of the Year, made four All-Star teams and finished in the top 10 in Cy Young voting four times. He also earned MVP votes in three of those seasons.

Now 37, Kimbrel may not be the same pitcher he once was, but he has still managed to record at least 22 saves in each of the last four seasons.

His 440 career saves rank fifth in MLB history.

In 18 minor league appearances this season, the closer has a 2.00 ERA
