FORT SUMNER, N.M. —
A woman in De Baca County has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Fort Sumner on Thursday.
According to New Mexico State Police, investigative bureau agents were called to investigate a shooting that left one male injured in Fort Sumner.
State police say during the investigation they learned a confrontation happened between a man and the female suspect that resulted in the male being shot with a shotgun.
State police say the suspect, 63-year-old Sheri Head, barricaded herself inside of a home after law enforcement responded. State police agents convinced her to exit and then took her into custody.
Head has been booked into the De Baca County Detention Center.
