SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah’s gold dome has stood tall for nearly 120 years, but for the first time in more than a century, City Hall has undergone a major interior restoration.
The work started last July and since then, crews have been hard at work modernizing the building while honoring its past.
“What we were trying to do in this room was really respect the original architectural features and fabric,” said Spracher.
Luciana Spracher is the city’s Archives and History Officer, talking about restorations in city council chambers.
“This room, at first glance, looks the same. But when you really start looking at the details you’ll start noticing how much better it is,” said Spracher.
