Three candidates will vie to fill the City Council seat vacated by former District 8 council member Chris Wery following his resignation due to family health issues . Wey has said he will be moving out of his district.

The candidates are:

Mark Anderson, resident at 1063 Shadow Lane.

Megan Borchardt, who is currently a County Board member and resident at 1146 Ninth St.

Jim Ridderbush, who previously ran against Wery for the seat in 2024 and resident at 1064 Sixth St.

The candidates, whose names were made public on June 6 , will be expected to present themselves to the City Council on June 10 and answer questions from council members.

Wery's replacement will then be chosen by a six-person majority vote by the City Council at the meeting and will serve for the remainder of the t
