PHOENIX (AZFamily) — High temperatures around the Valley were once again above 100 on Friday, but get ready for the heat to increase this weekend and into next week.

Friday afternoon, we expect to see high temperatures near normal at 103 degrees. The disturbance that brought a few thunderstorms up north is starting to weaken, but we’re still seeing a few isolated thunderstorms in the High Country.

A ridge of high pressure will start to strengthen over Arizona this weekend, leading to high temperatures between 106 and 110 degrees. That’s four to six degrees above normal.

The possibility of reaching 110 or above on Sunday is higher in southeastern Arizona with a 40-70% chance. Here in the Valley, we have a 30-50% chance to hit 110 or above, which would be the hottest day so far this year
