A fire ban has been declared for all of Rocky View County due to hot and dry conditions.

Rocky View County Fire Services upgraded the status from a fire advisory to a ban on Friday due to “continued hot and dry weather conditions.”

The change is effective immediately and will remain in effect as long as the conditions remain.

The ban means all burning and fireworks are no longer allowed, with the following exceptions: • Indoor household fireplaces • Camp stoves (properly attended) • Barbecues (charcoal briquettes, propane, or natural gas) • Wood pellet grills • Propane/natural gas fire pit • Oil well flaring (registration required)

In Alberta, there were 57 active wildfires as of Friday with 22 considered out of control.
