JEROME — A 41-year-old man with a background in law enforcement has been charged with a sex crime involving a teenager, records say.

Michael Mulliner, of Jerome, was charged last month with child sex abuse of a minor and injury to a child.

The Idaho State Police investigated the incident.

The Jerome Police Department has placed Mulliner, a reserve officer, on administrative leave.

The charges outlined in a complaint contend Mulliner in March entered a room the girl was in and sexually stimulated himself.

The girl said Mulliner ejaculated and she cleaned semen off the floor.

Investigators, using an ultraviolet light, took swabs from the floor and later took DNA samples from Mulliner. The results of the testing were not disclosed in the affidavit of probable cause.
