MAINE (WABI) - Law enforcement hit the ground running for a good cause on Friday.
The Holden and Bangor police departments took part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Maine.
The event aims to unite law enforcement officers from across the state as they carry the “Flame of Hope” throughout the communities they serve.
The run both brings awareness to Special Olympics and raises money for over 5,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across Maine.
“It’s such a good cause and you know that’s very little, that’s the minimum that you can do to help these special Olympians and support them. We as law enforcement support them big time and today is our day to pay our dues and run 6 1/2 miles for the torch,” said Eddie Benjamin, Holden’s police chief.
