JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A high-speed chase through Jones County ended with a suspect hiding under a family's home after fleeing from deputies who attempted to stop him for a traffic violation, authorities said Tuesday.
Warwick McElroy was arrested Monday night following a pursuit that began on Highway 49 when a Jones County Sheriff's Office deputy spotted his red Mercedes with a tinted windshield, according to officials.
McElroy allegedly refused to stop and reached speeds of up to 115 mph while swerving through traffic lanes before turning onto Mattie Wells Drive, where he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot into a residential neighborhood.
The chase ended at the home of Shelby Flewellyn, a mother of four who was putting her baby down for a nap when the incident unfolded in her yard.
