AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- There was a strong show of support Friday from officials who have agreed to allow for marijuana dispensaries in their communities.
Mayors, township trustees, state representatives and a county commissioner gathered at Austintown Township Hall, united in their opposition to changing the way tax money from marijuana sales are distributed.
"This is nothing more than a shoddy attempt to undermine the will of the voters. I'm just going to call it as it is, and It's a travesty," said Warren Mayor Doug Franklin.
In November of 2023, when 57% of Ohio voters approved the sale of marijuana for recreational use, they also voted to allow all communities with a dispensary to collect 36% of the taxes generated from the dispensary. But now, the Ohio Legislature is proposing
