DETROIT -- One of the Detroit Tigers’ top prospects will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

Shortstop Bryce Rainer dislocated his right shoulder while diving into a base in a game with Class A Lakeland on Tuesday.

After getting multiple opinions, he has elected to undergo season-ending surgery, the team said.

Rainer, who turns 20 next month, was drafted by the Tigers in the first round (11th overall) last summer and received a $5.8 million signing bonus .

He’s generally rated as one of the Tigers’ top prospects after outfielder Max Clark and infielder Kevin McGonigle.

In 35 games with the Flying Tigers, Rainer was hitting .288 with an .831 OPS. He had five doubles and five homers in 149 plate appearances.
