(KRON) — The U.S. Coast Guard and Power Engineering Construction Co. will work with the City of Santa Cruz on June 6, 7 and 8 to clear underwater debris left from the Santa Cruz Wharf, which partially collapsed during a powerful storm in December of 2024.
The work will remove heavy equipment and wood debris left on the seafloor next to the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf following the disaster.
“This material was deposited during the major storm event in December 2024, which caused significant damage to the south end of the Wharf,” the City of Santa Cruz said in a statement Friday. • A section of the Santa Cruz Wharf that collapsed into the Pacific Ocean is seen at a nearby beach amidst heavy surf in Santa Cruz, Calif., Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024.
