SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Chief of Police addressed use of force investigations within the Savannah Police Department Friday.
WSAV first told you about three officers who were involved in a use of force investigation. Thursday, WSAV reported that one of the officers who was reportedly recommended to be fired by the Savannah Police Use of Force Board, was placed on a five-day suspension.
Savannah Mayor Van Johnson spoke out about the police department’s use of force policy on Tuesday after he was made aware of a separate incident involving officers and two suspects.
"I understand the desire for swift action and answers," Chief Lenny Gunther said. "The Savannah Police Department is, and will remain, committed to holding ourselves accountable for all our actions."
