The Cave Creek Town Council approved a 90-day emergency services agreement with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office during its June 2 meeting until a finalized yearly agreement can be completed.

For fiscal year 2026, Cave Creek is set to pay MCSO $993,185 for law enforcement services since the town only pays one full-time law enforcement official outside of its contract with the sheriff’s office, according to Bo Larsen, a spokesman for the town of Cave Creek.

The council approved the measure 7-0 during its regularly scheduled meeting.

“Not like we have a choice on this,” said Councilor Dusty Rhoades said at the June 2 meeting. “Let’s go ahead and do it.”

A finalized emergency services agreement is expected to go before the council for a vote sometime in September, Larsen said.
