Going into the CIF semifinals, the Coronado Islanders baseball program was faced with a rather tall task. With one loss in the CIF DII bracket, the Islanders would have needed two wins over Mt. Carmel if they hoped to punch their ticket to the CIF championship game.
Unfortunately, they would fail to get even one. Coronado was eliminated in the CIF semifinals against Mt. Carmel, falling to the Sun Devils by a final score of 7-0.
“It was a disappointing end to the season, but we still have a lot to be proud of. Only six teams get to win their last game of the year,” said Islanders Manager Morgan Cummins .
