WILKES-BARRE — The Cavalcade of Jazz is back.
For the second consecutive summer, Luzerne County’s premier, multi-day jazz event is taking over Wilkes-Barre’s stages. It began on Friday evening with a performance by the Marko Marcinko Latin Jazz Quintet in the lobby of the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts. This was followed by the Downtown Jazz Walk, featuring performances at downtown restaurants like Cafe Toscana, Diamond City Vault Bar & Grill, Rodano’s, Franklin’s and Senunas’ Bar & Grill.
The headlining artist on Friday night was Cindy Bradley, who played at the River Street Jazz Cafe.
The original jazz festival in Luzerne County — and in the country — was held in 1951 as the Cavalcade of Dixieland Jazz, and that event is honored with a plaque on Public Square. Performing ar
