YAKIMA, Wash. – On June 5, 2025, Yakima Police responded to reports of a possible shooting incident in the 700 block of S 3rd Ave. At the scene, officers found a 34-year-old man in an alleyway with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police provided first aid and began their investigation, leading to the identification of a 30-year-old suspect. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived.

Later that day, at around 7:00 p.m., officers located the suspect in a vehicle and arrested him without incident. He was booked at the Yakima County Jail on charges of Assault in the 1st Degree.

Police stated that the shooting was not gang-related, and the victim is now in stable condition.
