BAT CAVE, N.C. —

A North Carolina company has been rebuilding private roads and driveways damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Helene at no cost as recovery efforts continue.

Precision Grading owner Jake Jarvis could be seen on Friday moving boulders in his excavator as he helped rebuild a driveway to where a home once stood in Bat Cave.

"You're looking at $60,000 to $70,000 for this road, and we'll have it done," Jarvis said. "They won't have to pay that expense. They can put it towards something that they actually will have to pay for, like appliances and household needs."

Jarvis said since the storm passed through western North Carolina in September 2024, he has helped more than 200 people rebuild their private bridges, roads and driveways.
