SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — On June 6, San Angelo Rotary Club members marked the 81st anniversary of World War II's D-day invasion during a luncheon.

The luncheon was held at Luigi's Restaurant, and a World War II veteran from San Angelo was in attendance. Attendees heard from the education coordinator at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, he talked about the history of D-day and the effect it had on World War II.

There are plans for a memorial that is along the Concho River that is a tribute to the men and women from San Angelo who served in World War II.
