MARION, Iowa (KWWL) -- Ascension Lutheran Preschool has served three to five-year-old children in Marion for more than 40 years. That comes to an end this year, however, after the Ascension Lutheran Church board made the decision to close the school, leaving parents to wonder what preschool their kids will attend this fall.

Director and Teacher at the preschool Mary Dittmer was told by the church board in May that they would discuss further details about finances and enrollment at their meeting in June. Just days later, that changed.

"Not even four days later, they walked in with an envelope, and said they're closing the preschool," said Dittmer.

Dittmer says that this is leaving the parents that planned to have their kids attend the school next year in a bad spot.
