CHARLESTON, W.Va. —Despite being outhit by their opponents, a steady stream of baserunners provided Hurricane with more than enough opportunities to put runs across the plate on Friday as the Redskins topped Hedgesville, 5-3 to advance to the Class AAAA state baseball championship.

“Timely hitting is what baseball is all about. They obviously outhit us and if they could’ve got some timely hitting, I might not be standing right here,” head coach Brian Sutphin said.

With Sutphin holding back West Virginia signee Weston Smith, sophomore Ryan Bowman took the ball and the Eagles attempted to jump on the righthander early.
