RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A man is accused of assaulting a Randolph County Detention Center officer, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said Barry Blake, 36, was getting a medical evaluation when he allegedly assaulted an officer on June 1. According to a news release, officers were able to intervene and restrain Blake.
Blake is charged with felony assault causing physical injury to a detention employee.
Investigators said the detention officer went to the hospital but was later released. According to court documents, the detention officer had a sprained wrist.
Court records show Blake has previous drug and gun charges.
