BLAINE, Minn. — One person was shot and killed at the Northtown Mall in Blaine, leading to a large police presence and early closing of the shopping center.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says Blaine police squads and paramedics were dispatched to the mall at 300 Northtown Drive NE just before 5:15 p.m. on reports of shots fired in the parking lot. When officers arrived they found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, and immediately began lifesaving measures. He was rushed to a local hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told investigators three men were seen running from the location. Officers found and arrested one of them, but the other two suspects were still at large as of Friday evening. Police say there is no continuing threat to the public.
