FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Call data from University and Fayetteville police show a steady rise in incidents near the 19th Street unhoused encampment area.

A letter to those camping on the land, issued the week of June 2, states the University of Arkansas will clear and clean its property, and all personal items left behind will be discarded. Citing unauthorized residency, the university urged individuals to seek help from shelters like 7hills and the Salvation Army.

Police responses in 2025

Since February 2024, the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) has responded nearly 60 times to the 19th Street property—40 of those calls occurring within the past six months alone.
