RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Alesha Martin was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on Friday, June 6, on child abuse and poisoning charges after she took her 17 month old to Renown Medical Center where the medical team said the child may have suffered from an overdose from prescription medications, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WSCO) news release.

The incident happened on May 28 when WSCO deputies went to Renown Medical Center after a toddler was brought in by his parents.

Medical staff expressed overdose concerns.

Child Protective Services took over the investigation, which found the toddler had been poisoned with prescription medication, according to the news release.
