COLUMBUS — Seeded second in the Division II girls discus and with one previous state meet appearance already under her belt, Michaela Stork couldn’t help but feel a bit of pressure.
The Port Clinton junior was determined not to let the weight of those expectations affect her, and she showed early on that she was ready for the spotlight Friday at Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
With a throw of 150 feet, 6 inches on her second attempt, Stork surpassed her season goal by more than 10 feet on her way to securing the state championship.
“It was really incredible,” Stork said. “I was coming in hoping I could push for that few extra inches to win it, and then I blew my expectations out of the water. My goal all season has been to hit 140, and as I did it, I smoked it by another 10 f
