LAS VEGAS — A bill that would speed up construction on a transitional housing project to tackle homelessness is now waiting on Governor Joe Lombardo's signature.
Assembly Bill 598 would speed up the timeline to get the Campus for Hope project going.
The bill exempts oversight from the state public works division since the city of Las Vegas already has oversight.
Campus for Hope is a 900-bed facility planned to be built on state-owned land at the current Adult Mental Health Services campus near Jones and Charleston in the West Valley.
In 2023, the Nevada Legislature and Governor Lombardo approved $100 of funding to go towards the $200 million Campus for Hope, with the remaining $100 coming from local resorts.
